부정관사                           

1. 부정관사 (Indefinite Article)

- 자음 앞에는 a,  모음 앞에는 an을 사용 - 자음 및 모음의 기준은 철자가 아니라 발음임

• an M.P[empi]

• an 18[eiti:n]

• a Europe

2. 부정관사의 용법

1) one(하나)을 뜻할 때.

• I have an American friend here.

• We shall stay here a day or two. (하루나 이틀)

• They resigned their posts in a body. (일괄적으로)

2) 종족대표 (대표단수)

• A dog is a faithful animal.

• A fox is a cunning animal.

• A horse is a useful animal.

3) A certain(어떤)의 뜻

• A Mr. John came to see you .

• In a sense, it is true. : 어떤 의미로는 ∼

4) The same(같은)의 뜻   (of + a + 명사)

• Birds of a feather flock together.

• We are of an age. (동갑이다)

• We are of a mind. (마음이 같다)

• They are of a humor.(성질이 같다)

5) per(마다)의 뜻

• I write to her once a day. (하루에 한번씩)

• He goes to the lake twice a week.

6) some(어느 정도, 약간)의 뜻

• He was speechless for a time. (한동안, 얼마동안).

• He is industrious to a degree. (어느 정도)

• at a distance (얼마간 떨어져서)
